MINNEAPOLIS — The Twins on Thursday made some minor personnel moves, losing reliever Cody Laweryson on a waiver claim and outrighting a handful players off the 40-man roster, including infielder Jose Miranda.

The Los Angeles Angels announced that they’ve claimed the right-handed Laweryson off waivers from the Twins. That’ll bring the Halos’ 40-man roster count to 34 players.

The Twins also declined their $2 million option on right-handed reliever Justin Topa — he is still under team control and arbitration-eligible — and reinstated outfielder Alan Roden, who was on the 60-day injured list with a sprained thumb.

Also taken off the 40-man were right-handed pitchers Thomas Hatch and Michael Tonkin, and left-handed pitchers Génesis Cabrera and Anthony Misiewicz. They are all free agents.

The Twins now have 33 players on their major league roster, including infielder Edouard Julien.

Laweryson, a right-hander who made five relief appearances for the Twins in September, was claimed off waivers Thursday by the Los Angeles Angels. The 27-year-old pitched a total of 7⅔ major league innings, giving up one earned run with no walks and striking out seven.

He was a 14th round pick by Minnesota in the 2019 amateur draft.

Miranda, 27, was once a Twins building block before losing his swing last season. After being optioned to St. Paul in April, he hit .195, with a .272 on-base percentage, in 371 Triple-A at-bats with the Saints.

In 2024, Miranda tied a major league record — and set a Twins record — by hitting safely in 12 consecutive at-bats. He hit .284 with 28 doubles, four triples and nine home runs in 121 major league games that season.
