CEDAR FALLS — Iowa women’s basketball (4-0) continued its torrid start to the 2025-26 campaign with a 74-41 rout of Northern Iowa (0-3) at the McLeod Center in Cedar Falls, Iowa, on Sunday. The game was the No. 23 Hawkeyes’ first road contest of the season.
Leading the way offensively was sophomore point guard Chit-Chat Wright, who finished with 19 points on 7-for-8 from the field, 3-for-3 from 3-point range, and 2-for-2 from the free-throw line in her 29 minutes of action. She added 2 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal.
Freshman center Layla Hays finished second in scoring with 14 points on 6-for-8 shooting and 2-for-3 from the free-throw line to go with her 7 rebounds, 2 blocks and 1 assist in 20 minutes off the bench. Hannah Stuelke tied Hays for the team lead in rebounds with 7.
Defensively, the Hawkeyes forced 18 Panthers turnovers, including 9 steals and four blocks.
Taylor Stremlow held the team lead in steals (4), while Hays’ 2 blocks headlined that defensive category.
The Hawkeyes next face No. 14 Baylor (4-0) as part of the WBCA Showcase in Orlando, Florida, on Nov. 20. Iowa will seek to transport its high-flying offense and a smothering defense to the Sunshine State.

Twelve of the 14 Iowa players who saw game time for the Hawkeyes reached the scoring column and Iowa had a 35-9 advantage in bench points.
Iowa (4-0) got 20 points from the bench in the first half and led 35-15 at halftime. Ten offensive rebounds led to 12 second-chance points for the Hawkeyes. Iowa extended the lead by 14 points in the third quarter when UNI made only 2 of 19 field goals and was outscored 25-11.
Bri Robinson scored 15 points for the Panthers (0-3) and Elise Jaeger grabbed 10 rebounds.
The Hawkeyes lead the series 28-3 and have won six straight and 18 of the last 19 meetings.
