HOLSETIN — It’s been nine months and 10 days since MMCRU and Ridge View played a girls basketball game against one another. On that Feb. 15, 2025, night, Ridge View had its season ended in a Class 2A Region 4 matchup in Holstein, 40-36.

That defeat still lingers in many of the current Ridge View players who came into the matchup on Tuesday (Nov. 25) wanting nothing more than to defeat MMCRU, and earn its redemption. Redemption was earned on the Raptors home floor 47-39

Both teams struggled early, fouls and turnovers. After one quarter, MMCRU maintained a 11-10 lead. At the three minute mark of the second quarter, Ridge View took the lead and finished the first half leading 20-17.

There were two lead changes during the third quarter prior to Ridge View going on a 14-0 run against MMCRU in a span of five minutes. The quarter ended in favor of Ridge View 38-27.

MMCRU took Ridge View big blow in the third quarter. Ridge View completed the victory with a 7-2 run over the final four minutes of the game.

MMCRU had six different players score in the loss.

The game proved to be one in win coaches Gillian Letsche of MMCRU and Brian Bode of Ridge View were able to play a lot of players and see which rotations of players worked best together. MMCRU had 10 players see action. Ridge View had nine players total see time on the floor.

One glaring weakness both teams experienced was foul shooting in the game. MMCRU finished only 4-of-11 (36.4%). Meanwhile, Ridge View finished 7-of-19 (36.8%).

Ridge View a pair of underclassmen. Sophomore Jayna Aschinger finished with 17 points, nine of those points coming off three 3-point baskets. Freshman Shea Rapp made quite an impression in her debut in a varsity jersey. The 5-foot-4 sparkplug had 15 points, a game-best eight steals, three assists and three rebounds.

The Raptors defense came up with 23 steals against MMCRU.

MMCRU (0-1) travels to Class 1A No. 13 ranked Harris-Lake-Park (0-1) on Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2025. Harris-Lake Park suffered a shocking seven point, 55-48 loss in its season opener against GTRA in Graettinger.

Ridge View (1-0) will have to step up its performance in their next game. The Raptors travel to Class 2A No. 12 ranked Pocahontas Area (0-0) on Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2025. It will mark the season opener for the Indians.
