SPIRIT LAKE — Cherokee was to have competed at the Okoboji/HMS Invitational on Saturday, Dec. 6, but Mother Nature forced cancellation of the event. It had been seven days since the Braves had stepped onto a wrestling dual in head-to-head competition.

On Tuesday, Spirit Lake Park hosted the Braves and handed Cherokee the dual loss 54-29. However, Cherokee won head-to-head matches at 120, 126, 132, 190, and 215. Spirit Lake won matches at 138, 144, and 285 pounds. Discouraging for Cherokee was the Indians got 36 points was through six wins by Braves forfeit, for their inability to fill weights at 106, 113, 150, 157, 165, and 175 pounds.

The loss by Cherokee leaves the Braves with a 1-3 dual record on the season.

Tonight, Cherokee was scheduled to face Alta-Aurelia and Emmetsburg in a triangular. That event has been postponed. No make up date has been announced. Tuesday, Dec. 16 the Braves will compete in the Sheldon/South O’Brien Quadrangular against Denison-Schleswig, Sergeant Bluff-Luton and the host Orabs.
