REMSEN — The Ridge View girls basketball team (3-3) has been bested again by Western Valley Conference rival Kingsley-Pierson. The Raptors struggled in the second half losing to the Panthers, 56-43, on Rockie Bork Court at the MMCRU Middle School in Remsen, on Friday.

Ridge View was outscored 38-20 in the second half, after leading 23-18 at halftime.

This is back-to-back losses for Ridge View this season, who has now losty four straight games to Kingsley-Pierson, and 12 of the last 13 since Feb. 3, 2014.

Ridge View nearly matched their season high for a game of 26, finishing with 23, the Raptors thid time this season they’ve exceeded 20 in a game.

Kingsley-Pierson shot better than 50 percent from the floor, finishing 22-of-40 (55%) overall. The Panthers connected on 12-of-17 foul shots (70.6%). In comparison, Ridge View finished 15-of-45 (33.3%) from the floor overall, and 12-of-15 (80%) on their free throws.

One area neither team fared well in was 3-point shooting. Kingsley-Pierson finished 0-of-6, and Ridge View was 1-of-15.

Julia Howe and Claire Peschau paced the Panthers (3-3) with 17 and 14 points respectively. Addi Foster finished with a game-best 10 rebounds for Kingsley-Pierson.

Ridge View freshman Shea Rapp continues be impressive offensively and defensively. The 5-foot-4 guard finished with 15 points, while adding a game-best seven steals and pair of rebounds.

Rapp at 11.6 points per game (ppg.) and Jayna Aschinger at 14 ppg. led the Raptors into their next game on the season at West Monona on Tuesday (Dec. 16). Ridge View’s next home game comes after the holidays on Jan. 6 (Tuesday) when the host a Class 2A ranked Sioux Central squad.

Ridge View vs. Kingsley-Pierson boys basketball

Ridge View and Kingsley-Pierson technically were both road teams in the Western Valley boys basketball game on Friday. Kingsley-Pierson has been having to play their scheduled home games elsewhere do to gymnasium damage at Kingsley-Pierson.

Ridge View won by seven points, 58-51, in a game which Ridge View had double-digit leads (27-16) at halftime, and (46-35) following the conclusion of the third quarter.

Ridge View has gone back-to-back in the win column against Kinsgley-Pierson having won by three points last December. Even with that being said, Kingsley-Pierson still leads the all-time series head-to-head 10-9 since January 2010.

The Raptors connected on 44.7 percent (21-of-47) shots from the floor overall. Ridge View was 17-of-31 on two-point attempts, and 4-of-16 on three-point shots. Ridge View made 63.2 percent (12-of-19) free throwing the basketball.

Offensively for Kingsley-Pierson it really was a two person showing — Landon Howe with 23 points, Tyler Koch with 17 points. The two Panther seniors combined to make 16-of-29 shots (55.2%) and 6-of-10 free throws. As a team, Kingsley-Pierson had only 19 field goals.
Howe added a game-best eight rebounds, dished out three assists, and came away with a steal. Koch had four rebounds. A third senior for the Panthers, Easton Nissen had four rebounds, five assists and five steals.

Ridge View has flirted all season long with cracking the Class 2A boys basketball rankings, now sporting a 4-1 record overall. They were led in scoring by Carter Todd’s 12 points. Kinnick Jensen and Karsen Jensen each added nine points apiece. Todd, a 6-foot-4 senior also led Ridge View with four steals and seven rebounds.

Last evening Ridge View traveled to West Monona. On Friday they will face another nemesis from the Western Valley Conference in OABCIG in Ida Grove.
