CHEROKEE — The Cherokee Braves wrestling team has had a few bright spots this season individually, but in duals head-to-head Cherokee has struggled out of the gates. Presently, the Braves are 1-6 in duals this season, following an 0-3 showing on Tuesday.

Disheartening in the Sheldon O’Brien dual, the Braves maintained a 29-6 lead with six weights remaining. Cherokee forfeited at 157, 165, and 175. They also dropped the 190, 215, and 285 matches by fall.

Individually on Tuesday, the Braves’ 190 pounder Mallon Malausky finished with a 2-1 match record. Weston Johnson at 126 pounds also finished with a 2-1 match record on the evening, as did Carter Hautt (150).

A ranked Sergeant Bluff-Luton team was heads above the remaining field. The Warriors run through the competition like a knife through butter.

On Saturday Cherokee will host the Paul Fuhrman Wrestling Tournament, scheduled to be an 11 team field in traditional matches beginning at 10 a.m.
