IDA GROVE — Behind a strong defensive effort on Friday, Ridge View withstood a slow beginning to its Western Valley Conference girls basketball game against OABCIG. The Raptors earned a hard-fought 48-38 victory over the Falcons.
With the win, Ridge View has been victorious in back-to-back games against OABCIG dating back to last season’s 45-36 win in Ida Grove. In most recent times, Ridge View has had OABCIG’s number, defeating the3 Falcons five of the last six, and 21 of the last 26 meetings going back to January 2014.
The Raptors improve to 5-3 overall while OABCIG sufffers its first defeat of the 2025-2026 season and stands 5-1.
Ridge View set the tone forcing OABCIG in to 21 turovers, while maintaining a slim edge on the boards 29-24 — 10 of the 29 for Ridge View coming on the offensive end.
Despite playing on its home floor, OABCIG didn’t shoot the ball extremely well, finishing 12-of-34 (32.4%) overall, including 3-of-12 from 3-point territory. On foul shots, the Falcons had some ‘klunkers, winding up 11-of-26 (42.3%) for the game. The 38 pointds is a season low offensively.
Jennessa Kolar finished with a double-double to lead OABCIG. She tossed in 15 points and grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds.
Ridge View relied heavily upon its 3-point shooting. The Raptors were an anemic 4-of-20 (20%) on 3-point tries.
Six players scored for Ridge View which played nine in the game. Sophomore Jayna Aschinger led Ridge View with 17 points, to go with five rebounds, three steals, an assist, and blocked shot. Freshmen Olivia Feilmeier and Shea Rapp, and senior Zoey Aschinger contributed seven points. Feilmeier led the Raptors efforts on the glass wuth seven rebounds.
Ridge View wound up 16-of-43 (37.2%) shooting overall, and was 12-of-20 (60%) on their free throws.

Ridge View closed out the first half of their season on Monday at Newell-Fonda. They return in the new year with a non-conference matchup at Logan-Magnolia on Friday, January 2.

Ridge View boys won its third straight game and went Wire-to-Wire against rival OABCIG in a 64-52 Western Valley Conference win on Friday.
OABCIG lost their third straight game in the all-time series to Ridge View, two of those loses coming in Ida Grove. The Falcons have lost two of their first five games to begin this season.
Beating your rival is important. Ridge View strong shooting and overall play defensively put the game to bed. The Raptors shot an overall 52 percent (27-of-52) from the floor, and caused enough havoc to force OABCIG in to 21 turnovers.
Ridge View scored 22 points in the first quarter and 13 in the second for the 35-22 halftime lead, holding OABCIG to only six second quarter points. OABCIG responded in the third quarter outscoring Ridge View 23-12 to get within two points (47-45) at periods end. Ridge View forge backout in front by double-digits outscoring OABCIG 17-7 over the final eight minutes of play.
Former Ridge View performer Raif Jensen, now in his second year at OABCIG finished with 15 points to pace the Falcons. Jensen added four steals, two rebounds and two assists. Jax DeJean chipped in 12 points and led OABCIG with seven rebounds. Evan Hoffman was the third Falcons’ player in double fihures with 10 points.
Ridge View was led by Zach Kolpin’s game-high 17 points. Adam Stephans and Carter Todd added 16 and 11 points respectively. Todd flirted with a double-double, but came up two rebounds shy, finishing with a game-best eight for Ridge View.

Six of Ridge View seven game’s played have been road affairs. The Raptors wound up 2025 with yet another road game on Monday at Newell-Fonda. They will open the new year with five straight home game. The first against a highly ranked and talented Woodnine team on January 2.
