LOGAN — A winless Logan-Magnolia team provided little in the way of opposition to Ridge View on Friday.

Three different Raptors scored in the first quarter, setting the tempo with a 12-4 lead enroute to a 20 point 46-26 win.

Logan-Magnolia’s first points came with 2:26 remaining in the opening quarter on a Maci Bertelsen two-point field goal. With five seconds left in the first quarter, Jayna Sdchinger basket gave the Raptors their first doiuble-digit lead 12-2.

At halftime, Ridge View led 21-8 behind Aschinger’s 12 first half points. The biggest lead of the non-conference game for Ridge View was at 36-9 (27 points)..

“We were able to take control early and build on that for the remainder of the game. We did a nice job of communicating on defense and really practicing a lot of things we had been emphasizing over the break which was nice to see.”

“We need to take care of the ball better and work on finishing around the basket. There are some things we need to clean up as we move forward in the season, but this was a great way to start out 2026.”

“Jayna had a strong offensive performance and was aggressive getting to the basket for us, which helped keep us in control. We hope she can continue to provide a consistent spark for us there.”

Brian Bode, Ridge View girls head basketball coach

Poor shooting for Logan-Magnolia was reflected in their 10-of-38 (26.3%) from the floor overall. This included 2-of-17 (11.8%) from beyond the 3-point line. Senior Allysen Johnson led the Panthers in scoring with 15 points. She added six rebounds. Marla Kiger led Logan-Magnolia in rebounds with seven. Kiger, a junior, added three assists and four steals.

For the seventh time this season, Aschinger scored in double figures. She finished with a season-best 21 points, surpassing the previous high of 20 against West Monona.

Logan-Magnolia falls to 0-11 and Ridge View improves to 6-4 overall.
