AMES, Iowa — Six members of the UNI wrestling team took to the mats on Sunday at the Harold Nichols Cyclone Open at Hilton Coliseum with a pair of Panther brothers both medaling for the Panther Train.

At 157 pounds, Austin Paradice, finished in third place after defeating Jabari Hinson (Arizona State) in a 6-0 decision in the quarterfinals before falling to Missouri’s David Gleason in the semifinals. In the third-place bout against Iowa State’s Kame Naaktgeboren, Paradice led 4-3 before taking the lead on a reversal and adding a takedown in the second period en route to victory. The third-place finish is Austin’s first event he has medaled in at UNI since joining the Panthers this season following collegiate careers at Chattanooga and Life University.

Logan Paradice bounced back from an opening round loss to Antonio Alvarado (Illinois) with three straight wins in the 149 pound consolation bracket. In the fifth-place match against Charles Vainer (Unattached), Paradice scored two escape points in regulation before scoring a third escape in the second overtime period for a 3-2 win. Logan previously won the 149 freshman/sophomore division at the Grand View Open earlier this season, along with a fourth-place showing at the Jim Koch Open.
