Ridge View leaves no doubt in regional tourney win over Ogden

HOLSTEIN — Winning 53-14 in Class 2A Region 1 tournament play on Tuesday was quite a statement for the Ridge View girls basketball team.

The Raptors from the time the opening tip went up were ballin’. The 39 point victory is the largest margin of victory this season and most since last February’s 41 point victory against Siouxland Christian.

Our defensive effort was great and we made it very difficult for them to find a rhythm.  We were able to force 31 turnovers.I thought we settled in well offensively and found ways to work the ball around. It would be nice to finish a little better around the rim at times, but I thought we were getting the looks we wanted.

  • Brian Bode, Ridge View head girls basketball coach

The Raptors improve their record to 8-0 when scoring more than 50 points. It is the Raptors fourth straight win going back in to the regular season.

Ridge View started with a 14-1 lead at the end of one quarter and expanded it to 29-5 at halftime. AtBy the conclusion of the third quarter the Raptors led 41-9.

To say Ogden struggled offensively is an understament. They finished 5-of-28 (17.9%) shooting from the floor overall. Included was 16.7 percent shooting on 1-of-6 3-point attempts.

Grace Christensen finished with 6 points for Ogden which concludes its season at 2-21.

Sophomore Jayne Aschinger paced Ridge View with 23 points. Fr4eshman post Olivia Feilmeier continue with her prgress and development every time she’s out on the floor. Feilmeier finished with seven points a game-best nine rebounds, two assists, and two steals.
