The field of Class 3A is completed of the eight region qualifiers for the 2026 girls state basketball tournament.

Iowa Prep Illustrated, Iowa Grandstand Sports ninth-ranked Cherokee qualifies with a 55-48 win over 14th-ranked Spirit Lake on Saturday. The Braves’ opponent with be top-ranked and top-seeeded Mt. Vernon.

Cherokee made the trip to Des Moines a season ago, losing in the 3A quarterfinal to Estherville-Lincoln Central. This year marks the tenth time Cherokee has qualified for the state tournament (1977, 1991, 2003, 2005, 2016, 2017, 2021, 2023, 2025, and 2026).

The game is slated for Monday, March 2, 2026, at Casey’s Center in Des Moines, at 5 p.m.

• #3 ranked Maquoketa vs. #7 ranked Mediapolis
• #2 ranked Des Moines Christian vs. #8 ranked Forest City
