Iowa upsets defending national champion and number one seed Florida in the 2nd round of the NCAA Tournament! 73-72 the final. Alvaro Folgueiras with three point basket with 4.5 seconds to go in the game to pull off the upset. Iowa led by as many as 12 points, but the Gators fought back, and the game was back and forth for the last 5 minutes. The Hawkeyes are in the Sweet 16 for the first time since 1999 and will play Big 10 Conference rival Nebraska next. Iowa State is on to the Sweet 16! The Cyclones advance in the NCAA Tournament by crushing Kentucky 82-63. Iowa State had to win its first two tournament games without Joshua Jefferson, who left early in Friday’s game with an ankle injury. His status for the rest of the tournament is still questionable. Tamin Lipsey scored 26 points for the Cylones in Sunday’s win over the Wildcats. Iowa State’s defense forced Kentucky into 20 turnovers, converting them into 25 points. The Cyclones will play Tennessee next. There is basketball on tap on this Monday. 2nd round action of the NCAA Women’s Tournament. Iowa is at home to play Virginia. The game starts at 1:00 at Carver Hawkeye Arena.
