DYERSVILLE, Iowa — The Field of Dreams movie site announced a permanent baseball team is coming to the ballpark.

The Field of Dreams announced a partnership with the Northwoods League. The team will be a permanent tenant to the new Field of Dreams Ballpark, which is currently under construction near the movie site.

The league says Dyersville will be the only team with an MLB-ready stadium. Field of Dreams Manager Tyler Daugherty is excited about the announcement.

“And you get closer, you get closer, you get closer, and when we actually set the date for this morning to hold the press conference, I think it was kinda like holy cow it’s actually going to happen,” Daugherty said.

The league is the largest collegiate league in history. This is the second Northwoods League team in Iowa.

The other is the Waterloo Bucks. The team will make their debut in 2027.

No name has been chosen yet, but fans are able to submit suggestions online.
